" Re Mouthing" for a better contact.
Re-mouthing a horse is a simple effective way to remind the horse that he is meant to yield to the pressure of the rein.If your horse resists when you squeeze on the reins , you could try re-mouthing. You leave the horse in a large yard so he can walk around with his bridle and surcingle and attach the side reins. Just on a contact to start with, then you tighten them up until he chews the bit and realizes that when he yields to the pressure on the bit , the pressure eases.
Reminding him that we want to ride him forward into the contact and when he comes round the pressure is released.
10 mins before you ride is a nice amount of time.
